FAQ

01
How can I pay?

Payment for all services, taxes and gratuities can be made in cash, by Personal Check at the time of service or before. Credit card transactions subject to prior approval and are handled prior to the day of the appointment.

02
Do I have to be home?

It is always nice to see you, but you don’t have to be home. Please assume that we are coming but feel free to text us anytime. If you are not going to be home or have to run out please leave Cash, or Check under your front door mat in a plastic bag. All credit card transactions are subject to prior approval. No credit cards for early birds.

03
When will you be here?

I work all day – not just mornings, This is an all-day appointment. If you would like to call around 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the appointment, we should be able to estimate the expected time of arrival. This will be a good “guess” and no exact time is ever specified. Being ready for us prior to our arrival is safest and is your best guarantee of results and that we stay on schedule for you and everybody else.

04
When should I be ready?

Please assume we are coming on the day specified. We will be at your house sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. unless we text you early in the morning and tell you we are on our way (we sometimes roll at 6:00 a.m.). If you are ready for us by 9:00 a.m. generally that is more than sufficient and greatly appreciated. Having all cars out of the driveway and garage doors up – and payment prepared and under front door mat in a plastic bag PRIOR to our arrival is a SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. YOUR COOPERATION in this matter is greatly appreciated.

05
I'm paying cash. Do I have to pay sales tax?

Collection of sales tax for maintenance services performed in Suffolk County, regardless of the form of payment, is a requirement of law. We do not “charge” sales tax, but we do “collect” sales tax and forward it to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance on a quarterly basis. Please do not ask us to break the law. Our sales tax identification number is 20462893.

06
Will my cracks and other repairs issues "disappear" when I get my driveway sealed?

At Phoenix Sealcoat, we provide sealcoat services for a variety of reasons. For some, it is for maintenance factor and for others, it provides aesthetic value. We want you to look good too, however we cannot guarantee that cracks, holes, oil and grease repair will necessarily “disappear” upon completion. We do the absolute best we can!

07
Will my old driveway be "brand new" again after I get it sealed?

No, if its old, it will still be old, but it will look a heck of a lot better and won’t be washing out into the street for at least three years.

08
What is my guarantee?

(1) Rest easy. You are guaranteed against rain-related washout. (Turn your sprinklers off! 🙂 )
(2) We guarantee reliability, the quality of the Velvetop products used and impeccable neatness. If there is ever a problem with service performed at your home, simply give us a call—we can make it go away.

09
What if it looks like rain?

If it looks like rain, we might not do it — please assume we are coming but feel free to text us anytime. If we need to reschedule due to weather, we will call you by 12:00 noon on the day of the appointment — usually not much before, and almost always not the day before, unless the weather report calls for high “frontal” rain activity. Many times during the summer, weather reports may call for something like “a 30% chance of showers” — please assume we are coming unless otherwise notified.

10
What information do you need for credit card payment?

If you would like to pay by credit card this transaction will be subject to prior approval, and you can provide the credit card information for an “easy swipe” over the phone when you book. We will need your card number, four-digit expiration date, three-digit security number, and for you to confirm your billing address.

11
I see little "PinHoles" in my recent sealcoating

With today’s Sealers, a tendency to “PinHole”, during application, and curing exists, especially on Newer or Never been sealed surfaces, and Back to Back year applications are recommended for these. Steps are taken during application to significantly minimize this, and the condition would have to be pervasive and excessive to constitute the need for a Redo!
